The RFF Contest

Here is what I have so far . Keep in mind this may change before I etch it in stone.

First and foremost you must be a member of RFF

Write a comprehensive article on rangefinder cameras vs slr's . If someone is considering the purchase of a camera, this article should convince that person to consider a rangefinder camera. In other words, the article should provide information which will spark interest in a rangefinder camera. It would be nice for the article to detail digital photography and the future of rf's .as it relates to it

I and a chosen other will select 5 or 10 top articles.

Out of the selected articles, a poll will be put in for members to vote on their favorite article. The winner will be chosen by you.

Moderator except for me is elligible. Afterall, you will pick the winner.

More to come. this is just the begining.

And, I'll wear a bucket painted with big letters saying "RFF" and dance the Macarena. With no clothes on.

I want that danged old camera.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

PS - Thanks for having a give-away!

Just a bump. I will define comprehensive in a while. However, the rules are looking pretty much like described above.

This is really cool!

I, unfortunately, have zero to negative zero writing skills. 🙁
I *may* however, have a return coming form the gods of IRS. So check your snail mail for a little something....oops, that was meant to be private 🙂

Good luck to everyone! I never win anything but I did raffle off (free raffle) free toy cameras at the toy camera forum. I just picked names out of a hat.

Would you be posting the winning article?

Why To Buy A Rangefinder Kamera

by D.P. Gumby

OK, so first off, buy a rangefinder kamera, or I'll bash you and bash you and bash you.

You don't want an SLR because I'll swing it around and smash it against a tree and then I'll bash you and bash you and bash you.

And digital - phah! I spit on digital! Ptooi! I spit on digital users! Ptooi! And then I bash them and bash them and bash them.

So in conclusion, buy a rangefinder kamera becuz MY BRAIN HURTS! I will take this brick and bash it and bash it and...

Ok now. Lets no do something we will regret later. Okaaaaay ? No bashing ....

I will put up a section for the reviews soon.

brilliant a writing contest for visual people, if a picture is worth a thousand words can we just post a picture? (and if the average picture is worth a thousand words surely pictures by HCB or any of the greats must be worth ten thousand words)
cuts to writing sketch from monty python "oh no he's crossed it out and signed his name again"

Another cut to the "motivational" speech from Glengarry GlenRoss (paraphrased):
"...we're adding a little something to the RFF writing contest. As you all know, first prize is a Bessa R3A. Anyone want to see second prize? Second prize's a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired..."

Writing...? On SLRs...? What do I know about SLRs?

Damn, this is gonna be one of them contests I can't win.... 🙁

But still it's a sweet offer (for those who can write a line or two).

it was a dark and stormy night, the sultry canon p sauntered across the room. every leica thread mount in the joint wished they were a long slim 90mm.

the m2 just sat there, looking beautiful and she knew it.
the 100/2 thought he had a chance but this babe was made for wides.

the little cl felt inconspicuous in this large crowd but that worked to his advantage as no slr, not even the oly om1 could move in and out without being noticed.

Cool way to spice up the forum, Jorge. And, don't despair, we'll see to publicize this one.

BTW, Bill... long time no seeing your posts! Good to see you're back on the saddle.

And, of course, keep truckin'! 🙂
