I've just been to The Shard in London. Quite an amazing view. It's hard to get pictures of the view due to the reflections, and, to be honest, I thought it was a bit cliche' to snap the view from the top. We found out when sunset was and stayed up there for about an hour and a half to watch the sun set, hence the vast array of colour and tones.

Hope you like my pics
Cheers

Very, very nice... and I like your "non-cliche" approach to this. I was in London a month or so ago but I confess I was too much of a cheapskate to go up (kept seeing the darned thing everywhere I went though!). Did do the London Eye, which was similarly (breathtakingly) expensive, but fun. :)

I really like your first "Why did I go out with Chris?" (LOL) and the evening "Through The Glass" photos, but the rest are really nice too.

Oh, and FWIW, the Eye has horrible reflections - all those curved surfaces. Ick. Nice views though.

Love the Shard!

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes I remember the London Eye; we went there about 4 months ago for a chocolate tasting. I think I posted my pics here. It was indeed very difficult but I found the single paned glass easier to shoot through than the two panes on the Shard, which are about 3 inches apart. With the low sun, I was lucky to get any shots without reflections!!

Cheers

I walk to work from London Bridge, so I have loads of photos of the Shard, and of people photographing it. Perhaps I should dig some out.

The Shard (2012) as seen from the Tower of London (1078). I wonder if the Shard will remain as long as the Tower. Fuji X100.

Not of the Shard itself, but the set up of a photographer I met in Great Maze Pond, who was doing a time lapse sequence of night falling on the Shard for an advert. He had about another hour and a half to wait after I spoke to him.

I love your "suburban" shots of the Shard Rodchenko, completely different look and context to the more usual shots we tend to see.

Thank you. It very much dominates the skyline in Southwark, which, up until recently, didn't really have tall buildings. I try to reflect the way in which the local environment is changed by its presence.
