The A7s is a 12MP camera. Right? Why would you pay so much money for it? I am just curious. From what I have read about this camera, it has great video capabilities and it is extremely sensitive in low light situations.
Here's a simplified explanation of why it has better low light performance: because there are fewer pixels on this 35mm chip, each pixel is larger and collects more light. However, the electrical noise for each pixel is fixed so the result is a better signal-to-noise ratio. In other words, the image is cleaner. You can see the difference in low light shots.
The tradeoff is lower resolution but if you don't make large prints, it might want better low light performance instead. How many times do you want to shoot in a dimly lit place? I bet for many, it's a lot if you're shooting people. Sometimes fewer megapixels is better!
