Veni, vidi, vici
1964 -- the year the Beatles came to America - was a sad year for me. I was up at 5 AM everyday to distribute newspapers, made all of $14 a month if I got paid by the greedy subscribers. I turned 12 that year.
My avatar is a photo taken in 2007 of a man in my neighborhood who actually thinks he is still in the early 60's. I look a tad different.I'm pretty sure kshapero (or at least his avatar, is that you, k?) is in here somewhere as well.
I liked the Nikon S2, and 35mm/1.8 lens he had. The asking price was $150.00 as I recall. It seemed like a good deal at the time.

Fascinating story Dale! Thanks for sharing.
I could have sworn the lens on the S2 was a final version 35/2.5 (same barrel as the 35/1.8 and the front element looks a little too small for the 35/1.8), but of course the guy who's actually holding the camera in the photo is the guy who knows for sure. Thanks again for posting!
.... Scrolling down I saw the photo of the photographer using a black Nikon S2 in 1964. I almost fell out of my chair I was so amazed to see myself in the photo! ...
