You may indeed be right, Graham... The original chrome-finish motor failed and was replaced by Pentax with a black-finish one which I then don't recall ever using! But the finish does match the K2DMD...

Finally needed a reliable motor drive and ended up with Nikon FM2 & FE2.

I have used Nikon MD-11 and MD-12; both are excellent.
A Pentax MX with Winder MX would have been nearly as speedy,
and with Motor Drive MX even faster.

Stunningly sharp bit of glass (as well as a great macro). Hard to complain for $5!

The SMC Pentax-A 50/2.8 Macro is a terrific walkaround lens
for subjects far and near - it focuses down to 1:2 without tubes.
This is a "K" bayonet-mount lens for later model Pentax bodies.

Two from an early pre radioactive Super Takumar 55/1.8. These lenses have a flat, fine knurled aperture ring. This is a kit lens with great versatility.
