I just realized that they are almost all flowers. How boring! But I guess when I get close up is when the bokeh happens most dramatically...I am not an in your face photographer, so when I am close, it is usually to something that's not moving!

I see too many pictures just ruined because they have too much boke.

I don't think a background has to vanish in order to be good. Quite the contrary!
Shooting wide open at daylight just for the sake of it isn't good photography practice, IMO.

You're right. More just for the sake of More just isn't smart. I have to be more conscious of that.

There is also something to be said for large format where you can tilt and arrange the bokeh in different parts of the frame, while keeping others sharp...

That said, there is no good reason I tilted the standards on those photos...I was just messing around. Nevertheless, it can be an interesting effect.

I'll toss an old shot in here at last. The picture is of no interest except as a test of the same lens and camera, the CZJ 80/2.8 Tessar on a Reflex Korelle, that Mael used to very good effect in post #196. Not much bokeh in square mm, but what there is, seems nice to me. This was the only properly-exposed picture on the test roll I shot after modifying the (old, smaller-mount-size) Korelle to take the Tessar, but Mael's shots are making me think I should try to get the balky shutter on the Korelle working.
