The Kiev shutter release is of very short length. I, e, that in contrast to other cameras the distance you have to push the button is shorter "than usual". I like this type of release design.
But it has its implications for adding a softie. Any commercial softie will convert the camera into a serial accidental triggering one. Hence Franco's idea of building his own is definitely positive.
So the more as the small edges on top of the shutter button are extremely uncomfortable for a highly styled camera like a Kiev or a Contax.
How to make a home good soft release for this Kiev ?
a) Non protruding, like Franco did
b) Perhaps with a false thread, i,e, a loose thread just to fill the hole.
c) Perhaps using a circular leather cut and fixing it with simple glue. Thus it will make the less protruding one.
