We’ve had a Lot of “Best” Lists, so how about a look at the other end of the spectrum. Your opinions and nominations are Welcome! #1. It’s Got to be the Fotron. Just horrible in so many ways. No collection is complete without one. #2. (Next Posters Turn :)

I never could stand to even look at the Argus C3, let alone use one.

And I don't think I've ever seen a sharp or decent looking picture from a Minox 8 x 11 format. (I know, it's just me.). Handy size, but unsatisfying results.

For me, the worst camera I ever owned was a used Nikon F4S when I was switching from Olympus to Nikon for autofocus. It was heavy and the AF did nothing for me. Ended up buying two F100 bodies (that some info said had the same AF module as the F5) instead that I used for a few years before going digital

The X100 with v1.0 firmware. A beautiful, buggy mess that never should have been released to market. Greatly improved with time, but the original will always own a deep dark hole of disappointment in my heart.

For marketing majors, and many internet camera forums, the main job, at which they are often successful, is to convince people that the worst camera of all time was the one they bought 3 years ago.

The worst make is "Minty" and the worst two models are "Serviced" and "CLA'd"...

Next on the list are all those lovely cameras that were working properly, turning out superb photo's and then suddenly failed and you discover no one will repair them; or else the bill will be hundreds with no guarantee.

Regards, David

My position on cameras is quite similar to my position on dogs: I love 'em all but some breeds/mixtures more than others--and I sometimes change my mind. I think my Argus Autronic 35 is plug ugly and a pretty bad camera overall, but I'm more inclined to feel sorry for it than to hate it. I certainly don't think the Argus C-3 belongs on any worst camera list. It's clunky, primitive, and has the most inconvenient lens changing system ever devised by man but its 50mm f/3.5 Cintar lens (a mediocre triplet) performs passably well if you stop it down to f/5.6 or smaller apertures and its (ahem) post deco styling is certainly distinctive. My very first camera was an all-plastic Ansco Panda my Aunt Estelle gave me for my 8th birthday and it was definitely the worst camera I've ever shot with.

The Kowa series of leaf shuttered 35mm SLRs were very awful in the 1960s when compared to their Japanese competition

I'm hesitant to mention these -- being such horrible plastic things with sound-alike names to major camera brands... but, they annoy me SO much... the Olympia, Cannon, Nokina atrocities, with potato masher flashes, that show up regularly on thrift store shelves.

Someone bought those things! Imagine the embarrassment at realizing they've been taken.

Sometimes 'the worst' can be the worst personal experience. After decades of relying on Nikons (along w Leica M) my personal worst was the newly issued Nikon F5. I couldn't rewind a single roll of film without the battery dying. Bought brand new, it went back to Nikon twice in the first 3 months and still the battery life issue was unresolved. Sold all the Nikon stuff, except an old F, and never looked back.

Runner up, my Minolta Prod 20S.
Looks like a Fuji X100 (even tho they were going for Leica), works like a Holga.
