I bought a Summicron 50 DR a while back and eventually got around to checking out the goggles that came with it. Long story short, they are the wrong goggles for my lens.
CameraQuest leads me to believe that the older lenses with only a FEET or a METERS scale needs one type (the one with the old enlarger style Leitz logo) and the one with the dual scales uses the one with the more modern script Leicz logo.
I have the old type lens with the new type ocular. I'm hoping that someone out there is in the reverse position.
Now here's the hitch. The way I understand this whole thing is that the old lenses won't focus with the new ocular, but the new ones with the dual distance scales work with either. So I'm the odd man out here. I'm hoping there's someone like me out there that would like to have the correct pair just for the collector or resale value. I don't use the goggles, but if I decide to sell the lens I'd have to price it as I would without the goggles.
Anybody who's still awake want to trade goggles with me?
Thanks, Vic
