then...and now...

I didn't wait to join before loosing my mind... I mean gathering my arsenal. I had managed to win a few RFs ahead of time.

But now:
Yashica GSN
Yashica GN- 2, Broken (likely reanimation projects)
Yashica GT- Fugly (Another reanimator)

Canon ql17 old school - working
Canonet 28 - working

Minox EL, shutter problems (fixable)

FED2, Shutter problems
FED 2, parts camera
FED 3, nice and working
FED 3, parts camera

Argus C-44, Hefty, moderne (mo dairn), and yet strangely satisfying. See my Koi Shot.

Bessa R, sublime

Industar 61 L/D, my "go-to" lens for shooting cars
Industar 26, fugly with clean glass.
J8, Pretty nice
Industar 22, also a nice lens
J9, love/hate relationship

Yet, I still have the "I wants."

Plaubel Makina

Leica IIf

Leica M2

Nikon S

Mamiya 7

Canon 7

Canon VT

Canon P

It is a sickness.

I had a fairly complete Nikon collection before joining. I had two Canon 7 cameras, added a third. I've mostly added Leica thread Mount lenses since joining. It's BillM's fault.

Of yeah, the Canon 50mm F1.5 and the Canon IIf is "Sonnar"s Fault.

I'll take the blame for anyone buying M3's since I joined.

So far I've been good since joining only adding a Canonet QL17 GIII and a Zorki 4K (in the post) to my collection. There again the call of the dark side of Ebay is very powerful even if my wife says I have too many already.

Seeing how I just started taking photos "for real" about five months ago, I'm not doing bad. I joined RFF just about the time I got my dad's Canon 7s and Canon 50/1.2, and my only other camera was my Ricoh R1s P&S, and a crummy cameraphone.

Now I've added an Industar 61/L-D, CV 35.2.5 pancake and a Rapid Omega 200 with 90 lens, as well as a Minolta XG-M with 50/1.7, 50/1.2 and 135/2.8. Aside from the RO200, everything was bought off a member. Heck, the RO was bought off an RFF sponsor anyway, Adorama. If this is five months, I hope I don't try to keep pace over the long run. I already neglect some of my gear.

hmmm before, I had a Royal M-35 and some slr stuff

now i have the above and a GSN, (2) QL17, 'Cord III, and 2 bulk loaders.

all i want now is a Hassy (or other great 6x6) and a Leica M6 classic or a ZI (we'll see how the reviews and prices go)...oh, and some disposable income.

When I joined I had already trimmed my collection down to the Canonet G-III QL17 and my Contax G1 and two lenses (35 & 45). Both are still here.

Since joining... two Leica M6TTL bodies, 2 Summicron 50s (one collapsible), Hexanon 35/2, Summicron 90, Elmarit 135 & one M3 (it's Brian's fault! 😡 ) with MR meter.

I'm still in debt. But heck, life is short you may as well shoot your way through it! 🙂

Hmmmmm, let's see....

I have to admit that I spent some time lurking around before I joined.
Thenceforth I have
  • dressed my Kiev 4a in a bargain Aki Asahi beige ostrich cladding
  • bought a new CV Ultron 28mm from Robert White
  • bought a used Summilux 75 (1st gen) from Objectif Bastille
Notwithstanding my banker's and my wife's points of view, I do not regret the least the two expensive purchases: those are stunning lenses. But I should have chosen a darker colour from Aki, as the coverings on the Kiev/Contax follow rather irregular lines. But it is already much nicer to hold (and smell!) already.

I have vowed to my better half to unload in September (so I guess the following is off topic)
  • the whole Oly paleo-DSLR gear
  • the Summicron 90
At that point, I will only be able to mount lenses on my M2 for which it has no frames : 28/40/75/135 instead of 35/50/90. Talk about uncluttered view! Anyhow Lutz Konermann's Scoop doesn't even let me see the 35 frames.

Framelines are for girlie photographers! 😱
