We love the way the pups go wild when they see Mommy's face. Here my wife is torturing them before letting them into the house. Olympus XA2, Walgreens Agfa ISO 200 C41 film.

I like the image too by the way. The XA has a 28mm lens?

The XA has a 28mm lens, and a fine one at that. But this was taken with the XA2, which is a scale-focus 35mm lens. And a fine one at that - I cropped the heck out of this scanned negative, still looks sharp enough...printed it at 5x7, no problem. That means I could have gotten a sharp 8x10 if I had printed the whole thing. I'm pleased.

Camera cost $5 on eBoy.

Woof! I love my XA2! Small, silent and discreet -- probably the opposite of Bill's dogs! 😀 (Their tails look to be the proper height for knocking your drink off the coffee table, too. Watch out!)

Do those dogs have names?

You are right on both counts!

The dog's names are Milo (standing) and Molly (blurry). They're brother and sister, found in a trashcan, and they're about 5 months old now. They're good doggies.

They are indeed good doggies!! I've met them, so I can vouch for Bill on that! 😀

Great shot, BTW!!! Was this the XA2 you were telling about that was mislabeled on Ebay as an AX?

Yep, sure was. Does a pretty good job, yes?

A slight correction, the XA has a 35mm lens as do all of the XA series save the XA4, which has the 28mm scale-focus macro lens. It is a fine lens no matter what the focal length though... love that Zuiko glass.

The dogs are very cute too, great shot 🙂

Doug,

Sorry, you're quite right. The XA has an open aperture of f2.8 and the XA-2 has most open aperture of f3.5. Got me all hung up there for a second. Well done correcting that line - someone might have bought one thinking it was 28mm!

Nevertheless, there have been persistant rumors over the years that an XA-2 can be sharper than the XA. One day I'll have a bit of a side-by-side test.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

I'd love to see the results of a shootout between the two myself. I dearly love my XA but there must be something behind those rumors.
