as much as i think i want the zm 85/4, i have not purchased it yet...
in my heart of hearts i know that i just don't use the longer lenses that much and for that kind of cash it would be an ill conceived purchase.
...perhaps a used cv 75 in the future.

what i do know is that i am much preferring the wider lenses nowadays.
i like the cv 15 very much on the rd1, = about a 23mm fov.
so now i'm wondering about the cv 12 which would give me about an 18mm fov - which seems about just right for where my frame of mind is these days.

from the rd1 users who have or have tried the cv 12, any comments on your experience?

I only have experience with the 15 - and have often wondered - if in regular use the 12 makes enough difference to justify that layout, I may be wrong, but think it would be less noticeable on full-frame?...should be some interesting observations Joe.

Hi Joe,
It was difficult for me to get used to 12mm CV as a person who had only used 35mm nokton. After getting used to it i find it as a great wide angle lens. Voigtlander 12mm D viewfinder is bright but it shows you narrower than you shoot.

www.antrepo.org/walking contains mostly 12mm CV photos.
www.antrepo.org/rd1 i put some raw files from both 35mm 1.4 and 12mm 5.6

Hope this helps

I only have experience with the CV 21mm on a film body, and that was the LTM version. I borrowed it last summer and didn't use it that much and gave it back.

After scanning and printing my negs from last summer I realize it was a really nice little lens and asked the owner if he's still interested in selling and he was so I should be getting it later this summer.

Edit: Haha I now realize my dyslexia must have kicked in because you were asking about the 12mm. Sorry.

The Voigtlander Ultra Wide-Heliar 12mm f/5.6 Aspherical do exhibit a fair amount of vignetting, even on the 1.5X cropped sensor of R-D1/s. If you are shooting digitally, this can always be corrected in post processing if desired.

If terms of framing, the 12mm D (for 1.5X sensor) viewfinder is quite necessary for effective framing unless you have a spare 18mm viewfinder lying around.

I have a few more pictures shot on the R-D1 and R-D1s as well as on film here.

Actually, the Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical is not too bad too.

Cheers,
