Thanks for the reply. No, no print sales last night. But -- and this is a very interesting one -- I got a call two weeks ago from a fellow in NYC who had seen that 'lady in the cathedral' photo in the New York Times back in late 2011, and was so taken with the photo that he actually went to Reims France to seek out that exact spot. Ended up selling him a print for $600 matted, which I definitely appreciated!
As far as a book goes, I did finally do a mockup on Blurb, though it was still a big pain to lay out. Once I went through it all, the cheapest price for a single hardcover copy would have been over $50 (and that's for the cheap paper). Using the best paper would have pushed the price to over $80. Don't know how much it would cost to have 100 made by them, but I can't imagine it would have been a massive quantity discount. I think if I were to seriously get it printed, I'd probably consult some of my author friends to see what kind of deals they got for their books (mostly cookbooks). One of my friends gets all his printed in China -- wouldn't be necessarily my first choice, but if I did in fact go that route, I'd probably want to see a sample of the quality (I would prefer to have it printed locally, or at least in the US). Ideally, I'd love a hardcover book, and the Flickr one is actually pretty nice. But, Flickr does not offer any kind of quantity discount (I've checked), and they're now charging for shipping. So the book that I did have done for $37.45 is now over $50 with shipping. Realistically, if I am to sell this book, I don't think I could charge any more than about $25, so my cost can't be any more than about $10-$12.
The photos are coming down from the hotel next week, and I'll be hanging some photos from the series in a coffee shop in Baltimore (Zeke's Coffee on Harford Rd. for those of you who live in the area). Plus, one photo (the boxers in France) has been on the 'Oskar Barnack Wall' at the Leica Store in DC for the month of January. I'm really trying to get these photos to live and breathe beyond my four walls -- and if sales result from it, that would be nice!
