Got one from them (Rugift) it was crap. They sent me another, it was crap. Now they will not take it back. Got my 4/3 to Nikon Adapter from CameraQuest. It works perfectly.QUAsit said:After Canon, Sony/Minolta i-adapters with focus confirmation, Russian people create the same thingy for 4/3 system.

I am worried about this myself. I have tried to buy from reputable sources and paid a little more than the cheapest ones going on eBay. I would go for the CameraQuest ones but they are very expensive - over $150 if my recall is correct, compared to around $30 which I have paid. Still a $30 adapter is expensive if it does not work.

I just bought a mint L1 w/Leica lens for $750. I have a Cameraquest Nikon adapter. So all my Nikon Lens from 1963 on work perfectly. Take that Nikon D200.kshapero said:I owned it. great image quality. I blacked out the Panasonic name. Everyone thought it was a Leica. But it just felt like a brick in my hand. Even so, I regret selling it. I see it as low as $850 US new. Go for it.

Why do you make the blanket statement that the Russian adapter was "crap"?
I have a few of the cheapie Chinese eBay adapters and they all work perfectly. Focus confirm is in camera. You don't need a chip on the adapter.
The cheap adapters fit well and everything works fine. Why are they "crap"?

M. Valdemar I hope as you say, that they are not crap as I have just bought two (one M42 and one Nikon) off eBay. I am still awaiting their arrival. You obviously have had a good exepreince with them so I am heartened.
kshapero $750 for an L1 is a fantastic price if you ask me. I am quite impressed with my camera. At that price Iwould be even moreso. I especially like the fact that with an adapter, as you say , all Nikon mount lenses including pre AI ones function. Nikon bodies themsleves will not do that. Whoopeee.

My eBay 4/3 adapters were for Nikon, M42, and Olympus. They are very well made, substantial metal construction, black chrome, and fit perfectly. Paid $20-$35 for them. I'm having a lot of fun trying lots of different lenses.
I can't see what else anyone could expect or what would make a $175 adapter any better. It's just a simple metal coupling device.
PS: I also wonder why anyone would "black out" the Panasonic name?

Point well taken. Correction: the ones I have received have been all rejects and didn't work.M. Valdemar said:Why do you make the blanket statement that the Russian adapter was "crap"?

To look cool. To be taken seriously. To leave only the Leica brand name on the lens so it can be stolen. To name a few.M. Valdemar said:PS: I also wonder why anyone would "black out" the Panasonic name?

I wonder if someone can help me by answering a question. I have had a Panasonic L1 for a few weeks and am loving it. I have just bought two lens adapters - one for my Nikon glass and another for my M42 glass. But I cannot figure how to get it to work with manual focus lenses and the adapter. I have successfully mounted the lens on the adapter and the adapter on the camera. I have set the camera's focus mode to manual focus and metering mode to center weighted (not sure if the latter is a requirement) but I still get no focus confirmation through the viewfinder and the shutter button will depress but will not fire the shutter. What am I doing wrong? Something dopey and obvious no doubt!

pete,
slightly depressing the shutter release button and start turning the focusing ring slowly till you see the confirm light lit up in the viewfinder. If you turn it too quick pass the point of focus you won't see it. Give it a try.

Isn't there a menu option to enable the shutter to fire with manual lenses?

Photodave, yes in fact I have just found an option tucked away right at the very end of the custom settings menu that allows you to fire the shutter even if a lens is not fitted. Changing this allows the shutter to fire with a manual lens. Thanks and spot on. I can now shoot but........(see below)

I am still not getting focus assist though. I can focus (sorta) just using the viewfinder but I thought that there was supposed to be a focus confirmation light that comes on, just as you say. (There certainly is if I use the Leica kit lens in manual focus mode.) . But with a third party lens and adapter, no matter how slowly I focus the focus confirmation still does not appear. Does anyone know if there is another custom setting I need to change?
PS I have turned focus priority on figuring this might affect it but no, it still lets me shoot whether apparently in focus or not and still no focus confirmation light.
