I'm shooting with a Zorki 4 at the moment and want to upgrade the glass. What's everyones opinion of this lens and would it be a waste to put it on a Zorki (cant think why but thought I'd ask!)

the 1.5 Nokton is a FANTASTIC lens. I don't see how it would be a waste to use it in any camera body, really, but maybe you could benefit from, say, a Bessa-R which would have a better viewfinder and it's not so expensive.

I had the Nikon RF version of this lens, which I assume is identical except for the mount.

It was beautifully made, for one thing. I thought it had very nice-looking image wide open and, as you would expect, improved stopped down. I mention stopped down, but the reason to buy this kind of lens is to shoot wide open, and I was very pleased with it.

It's a great lens! I have occasionally used it in a Zorki 4 and it works but it'll block a portion of the viewfinder as it is, as someone else pointed out, a bit bulky.

Get it!

A fine lens indeed. It's only fault is that it might be a bit too large. And some like a more old fashioned rendering. Still, it delivers the goods, sharp wide open on film or digital, m43 to FF...

I don't have experience with Nokton but I do regularly use Jupiter 3 that has same focal length and aperture. I am sure they are completely different since jupiter 3 is sonnar formula (copy of zeiss) versus Nokton of more modern design. I'm just suggesting it since you may be able to get it much cheaper

However, after I adjusted it to focus correctly on leica ltm, it produces beautiful images. Sharp wide open with good light (quite surprising) and very sharp and decent contrast when stopped down.

Shot with the Nokton f1.5/50mm I think this was at like f2.8 or so.......on a Leica M8 Digital. 🙂

It's a good lens. I sold mine because
1)it's too big
2) its building is not as rigid as a Leica

but for the price, u can't complain.
