Thinking of RD-1 - is there a Mk2 or RD-2 imminent ?

I wouldn't buy an R-D1 at this point. It's not a great camera; it has too many QC issues. Just read the archives. It's popularity is based on the lack of competition.

You already have an M w/ lenses, and film and film processing is plenty available.

We know a digital M is coming out in a year or so, and those he say otherwise really have no basis for that belief. Based on the quality and function of the DMR, the digital M should be something special.

The digital M, however, will be expensive, and that's a point.

"The digital M will be expensive" . . . .that's a bit of an understatement

"We know a digital M will be coming out in a year or so" . . . pull my other leg for a while!

Buy the RD-1 you wont regret it!

Despite the QC issues Epson must have done something good .... building the best digital camera in the world. I said it here before ... i prefer the R-d1 yo every Canon DSLR i owned.
This includes D30, D60, 1D and my current 1Ds which i did not touch since i have the R-D1.

The bashing of the R-d1 comes mostly from film shooters.
Ok it is valid to compare to film .. and it is valid also to prefer film to digital.
But compared to the digital cameras out there the R-d1 is an awesome little machine giving the most film-like results so far.

Yes ... i'm waiting for a Digital M too especialy for a more solid/ reliable body but i can not think about very much to improve to the character of the files.
