Thinking of selling my Hexar RF Limited Kit....

I'm seriously thinking of selling my mint kit (Hexar RF Limited, 50/1.2 M-Hexanon) with all the original papers, presentation box, hood, strap and pouches for around 3K on our forum. In addition, it includes a Luigi 1/2 body leather case and a "0" diopter eyepiece. My question is simply this; given todays financial market, is it something people would be interested in buying?
 
Matsuiyastore have got the kit for $2900 at the moment, so it would seem to be in the ball park pricewise, I'm sure someone would buy it.
 
I'll probably sell it for around $2650 given the market as it is at this time. It's not getting much use I think it's time to do some spring cleaning.

Well, I suppose someone who is a collector could buy it at that price. However if matching numbers, box, etc dont matter, it would still be a bit high I think. Hex 50/1.2 seems to sit at $1700-1800 and not sell too hot now. (while its a good price for it) Hexar bodies sell at 500-600 USD and limited maybe slightly more. All the extras can bring few more $$. I think if you want it to move fast - something like $2400-2500 would be better. But even at $2650 it could sell Ok. All this is my opinion of course. Meanning - at $2400 I'd consider it. At $2650 I'd pass, - even though its a good price - simply because in this economy it's that much more difficult to part with cash.
 
Thanks Kroysa for the input. I've decided to drop the price of the kit to $2549 and if money is tight, I'll go as low as $2474 w/o the Luigi case in the package. I can just sell the case separately.
 
I recently bought a "mint" Limited body-only from Matsuiya Store for $800. While the whole kit is attractive, I don't really use or "need" really wide apertures faster than f/2, so couldn't justify the expense. I do have the Sonnar ZM f/1.5 but of course that's a special-use lens at that aperture!
 
Doug, for the body alone, that sounds about right in todays economy. I've got mine listed at $900 but that includes a Luigi case, 0 diopter eyepiece in place of the standard -1 diopter version, papers and presentation display box. The lens is great for available light where flash can't be used. I found it to outperformed several samples I've tried of the 50 mm pre-asph Summilux due to less curvature of field and astigmatism and the 'lux sells for slightly less in similar condition. The 'lux is ideal as a portrait or people lens while the 50/1.2 Hexanon M is better suited as an all purpose high speed lens good for both people or landscapes due to better control of the aforementioned aberrations. The upside is that these aberration coupled with it's high contrast gives the 'lux it's classic fingerprint and the Hex is a bit more neutral in it's rendering.

I love the overall performance of the pre-asph Summilux (not talking ultimate sharpness here), so you make the lens sound very, very tempting Alan!
 
Sorry, the half case goes with the camera body. I plan to keep the kit unless someone is interested in buying it for about $2450, which given it's condition and performance is fairly reasonable.

I am tempted by your kit, but I always prefer to use black lenses. As near as I can tell the Hex 50/1.2 only ever came in silver.

Would be a nice way to give the lens a try and get a Hexar RF body as well. Have to have a think...

I am doing a very serious down-size, but I need(want) a very fast 50mm in M-mount. The Hex 50/1.2 with a Hexar RF can be bought for less than the Noctilux. I am only really interested in the lens, but I also need to get another Leica M, but the Hexar could do service just as well as an M.

With the Noctilux dropping in price, I will pass on the Hexar kit and just got the Noct. If I am going to settle for a f1.2 lens then I would rather get a Hex 60/1.2.
 
I've been eying the 50/1.2 for a while... So yes, there are people potentially interested. What I really want is a fast 50mm with pleasant look, and this lens is much cheaper (and faster) than a new Summilux, and beats (in my mind) a used pre-asph Summilux. Are there any side effects from using it on a CV Bessa?

However, the new Nokton 50/1.1 may steal some attention in the market. At least it is much cheaper, has praise heaped on it already, and, living in NYC, I can physically look at it and feel at PhotoVillage before I buy.

So it is now more realistic to predict that once again, while I am saving for a lens, Cosina comes along with a cheaper comparable solution. I bought the CV 35/1.2 before I could afford the 35/1.4 Summilux.
