thinking out loud...

Does anyone else hear voices in their heads? Just all of yours. Of course I have started dreaming in different ISO's, and I am a bit freaked out about that. The 3200 in Dektol is a weird sensation.
From this dreaming experience i have been thinking hard about removing much of the clutter, and going with one body and only a couple lenses (35, 50 - but I think I will hold onto the 90 Elmar). That would mean selling my m3, 40 cron, two of my 35's, 135's and coule 50's. If I also sell the m2, then I can get an Mp, and might sell my hand meter.
Then the backache will be over, but the headache is here for life.

I'm a sympathetic guy, but empathizing with Joe's recurring dilemmas is too unsettling. I have my own GAS to suffer, too, and need to be more vicarious in thinking about Joe's restructuring... just sit back and appreciate the rationalizations. 😀 Good luck to you, Joe, and I'm glad I'm an accumulator rather than a minimal-kit type. I figure I can be as minimal as I want just by wrapping up gear and stashing it in inactive storage until I get the urge to dig it out again. 😉

Joe,

go for the black ZI, you 've been wanting one ever since they came out. You are right to keep the Planar 50 ZM, even if that means no new Sonnar 50 for the time being. The Planar is the 'unsung hero' of the Zeiss lens line-up. Perhaps not as sexy as the Biogon 25, or a 'sophisticate' like the Distagon 15 and the Sonnar 85, but a trully great lens, with a personality of its own. And, let me add, a better lens than its sibling, the Planar 50 ZF.

Your minimal kit will be more satisfying. Perhaps the only lens you need is a faster lens for very low light. Perhaps the Sonnar then is not out of the question. Something to look forward in the future...😉

Best,
