"This is a picture I did not take"

This is a post I did not read.

Great idea for a thread! Will you start it or should I?

I like the website linked in the OP, inspiring. I had never fought about that writing can work so well to convey a visual impression, sometimes maybe better than photography.

Very nice, I like the concept a lot.

It's related to a book concept I've been working on, provides some inspirational seeds. :)

There is no need to start fighting.

I'll run with a Freudian slip interpretation, the alternative of the two sounds being similar to a German ear and still to my mind as well is more embarrassing. So yes, let's fight about this. Please, someone object to what I wrote!

My feeling is, let's just see how this works. Michael Murphy presents a very high bar, but, what the heck, this could be lots of fun.

William Eggleston thought words and pictures had very little to do with each other. I wonder if words and no pictures will do any better.

Kind of the opposite of ‘Pictures or it didn’t happen.’
Seriously, I’d love to be able to write good descriptions of events that have transpired in front of my eyeballs. Trouble is, just not good with words. And too slow a reaction time for ‘grab shots’.

Which camera did he not use and how many megapixels was it? Was the lens not used multi-coated? Would he like to upgrade it to the latest model which is said to provide much nicer not taken images? :):):)
