In another thread Dave Lackey made the comment, "Hey, it is football season and the weather is wonderful! Time to get outside boys and girls and have some fun!"

I agree, so here are some photos. I also have some comments:

Sometimes here on RFF we take ourselves too seriously and don't take the time to just share what we are doing.

These shots are digital, but I still love film.

These are not art and are not meant to be.

I hope you like them, but if you don't It doesn't hurt my feelings. I had fun taking them.

If this thread starts an arguement I will delete it - we argue too much over nothing. 😀

Please feel free to add photos and comments of your own. Feel free to ignore this thread as well.

Have a great day! Don't forget how much you love photography...

I shot this with my beastly 400/2.8 - so shoot me it's not a rangefinder 😀.

Cheerleaders are always a great subject, don't you think? The image has issues but at least I was there and got it. This 35/1.4 lens is nice.

Celebration after the game. We have not beat this opponent in many years. We ruined their homecoming celebration - oh yeah!

This may be the worst shot ever taken with a Noctilux. There is this big flag that was raised at our high school for a 9/11 tribute tomorrow night. I saw it and thought I would try to get a picture. I had my M8 with f1 Noct. with me. Even across the street I was too close. This shot is three frames stitched in CS4. I think it fails horribly, but hey - I made a photo.

Great shots! The top one belongs on the sports page. #2 could be on the evening news.

Even the last one has some interest. ;-)

People argue so much on line because it is so easy to argue on line. No one can break your nose! That's the worst thing about the online world.

Thanks Randy. I taught all these kids so I know them and their parents. Taking sports pictures is fun for me; the kids and parents get pics out of the deal. Almost everyone is happy - you know there is always someone that's going to gripe about something.

It's kind of funny - people here in my real life don't appreciate the pics we like here on RFF. They look at them and think they are strange. I have some b&w pics hanging in my classroom that make people ask, "Why did you take a picture of that"? I get a kick out of it.

Ha! Gary, it is all art to me especially this time of year!

Having spent so much time with our kids in football and cheerleading these bring back great memories but also, your photos just put the exlcamation point on the word fun!!! and then you provided a reality check with the final photo. 🙂

Thank you for posting as this thread is exactly what I was hoping someone would do!😀

Photography is great but sometimes you just gotta get outside and have some fun! Most of these activities one will do cannot be photographed by the one doing them...ever try shooting a rangefinder whilst kayaking in whitewater?😛
But every now and then, you get a surprise visit ONLY because you have decided to get off the computer and place your real body (not the virtual one) OUTSIDE in nature!

Gary,

Spent the whole day with the granddaughters and was constantly reminded about this thread. How lucky you are to be teaching as it was the most rewarding job I ever had.

Today, I had no camera out of the bag and little time on the computer so it was a good day, a very good day for us. Could only have been better if we could have actually gone to a college football game yesterday and had today to recuperate, but, alas, not to be. Maybe some day...🙂

Thanks Dave! I am lucky. I work too many hours and have stress like everyone else, but this job is very rewarding. I spent this morning taking some family photos for a friend out on their ranch. We used an old rock wall that was built in the 1880's as a setting. There were young 'uns playing with sticks, temperamental babies, and patient older children. The weather was incredibly beautiful. One granddaughter was an 8th grader (my area). After the session we went to their house and I did a little science demonsration for her. It was a great morning.
