So everybody, take a look at this bay listing...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=220162547815&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI
...and tell me if you share my exasperation. If I'm not mistaken, popflash had another of these kits at their store for months about a year ago, the price was around 5 or 6 grand. I know that it was there for a while because I was keeping my eye on it. I am pretty sure they had to drop the price before it sold....and now this kit is going for 35,000!!!!! it's pretty ridiculous that people are paying this much for a camera kit....that or someone is banging their head against the wall for making a mistake when they entered their bid!!

anyway, just had to share my frustration.

have a good day peoples

I call BS - the account's likely been hacked - look at the feedback - he's NEVER sold squat before on Ebay - strictly a buyer.

The bidding has been likely been going up because people are aware that this is a fraud imho.

Looks a little like BS. You can't even se the first and last letter of the bidders like normal. It just says "private listing - bidders' identities protected".

I often wonder how you become a seller on the bay. If you have zero feedback or only buying feedback no one will trust you.

I only bought five things on eBay. Because of that I can't bid on some items because the seller is paranoid and demands 10 positive feedbacks or more. I can't se how a seller can be cheated if he has the payment before shipping the item.

Well, the fact that people actually do go from being buyers to become sellers pretty much shows that claim to be false, I think. Like many others, I went from buying to selling on eBay, and I really didn't have any problems - maybe some people didn't trust me in my first auctions, but there were certainly enough who did.

After reading the above posts, I really regret being the high bidder on this. How can I retract my bid? I have 8 kids under 4 years old that need food next month and I won't be able to do it if this is a scam...

You forgot a " 😉 ". I really hope you forgot it...

It might not be a scam but some idiots having fun. I have seen it before where certain auctions are targetted and the poor seller has to go through the trouble of claiming back fees etc and then re-listing. There are some scam bidders as well. 😉

Imagine the guy who put $34,000 and is getting outbid.

No kidding! I've been sitting in a bar trying to wash away the memory of loosing out on this since I was outbid. Oh well, there is always the guy at the bus stop selling Rolex watches.....

The 3 lens are worth more than 7 grand new or very close to it. However, I think a STRAW man or men bid it up and its a scam intended for a future victim. Maybe?

hahahahahaha!

I`m still waiting for the Mint- 1945 Leica IIIC K "Grey" paint US Army with a Black MOOLY Motor and the Black Summarex f1.5 85mm with both caps, all filters and hood..........
ohh and add a RASKL sports finder with it as well 😀
(I might want to run a roll of film through it) 😱

Fred do you have one of those hanging around anyplace? 😉

I teach eBay classes. I can tell you that it's very popular for the Nigerian Scammers to try and get someone to close the auction early with and offered price and then run their common scam (We want to send you a cashiers check for XXX over the settled price and have you refund.......for one reason or another). If the seller won't close the auction early, the scammers will screw with the auction final price, running up the final fees, etc and disappearing. It's very common in notebook computers. You often see $700 to $1000 computers run up to 9 or 10K final price.

As far as the auction, I generally look for a constant stream of feedback. this is a 7 year old eBay account and the feedback stream peters out a few month ago. However, with the rapid rise in the final hours...over 20K, I think it's more likely that the Nigerians are punishing this seller for not playing their fraud game. Happening quite frequently. Pay attention to the warnings on the eBay site and the warnings at Paypal. I just had a friend get scammed for $400 to buy an Apple Ibook. That scam was through a Western Union payment. Western Union is a favorite payment vehicle of the scammers at the present time. There is a good writeup on how that scam (Western Union payment) scam works on the Craigslist web site presently
