I just developed a couple rolls of Neopan 1600 (dev'd in Xtol 1:1 for 7.5 minutes - came out looking a lot nicer, imho, than when I used to dev it in D76); one roll was from the M6 and the other was from the IIIc.

The M6, with the way it meters, I'm still sort of "getting used to" - after all, there were shots on the roll that were sad due to the way I didn't expose for the shadows enough.. however... the "important" shots; the reason I wanted a rangefinder, worked like a charm.

The IIIc, with the VC Meter II on it, worked just fine for the type of shots I was hoping to get. I can't wait to use it in a similar situation again in the future.

Oh.. and the reason??? Available light of course 🙂

The shots from the M6 were with the tabbed summicron at f2 and 1/15 or 1/30 handheld. They are of my friend who's recently had a baby - the little guy is only 2 months old - it was hard to get her and the baby still since the kid's got a bad case of colic 🙁

The shots from the IIIc were with the 35mm summaron at f3.5 and 1/4 handheld.. ya.. handheld honest. They are at a recent (a couple days ago) get together of friends in a little Irish pub near downtown Toronto.

Cheers

Nice shots! I'm slightly surprised that the Summaron is so sharp and contrasty at f/3.5. I haven't tried shooting mine wide open yet.

Thanks guys. 😎

The Summaron doesn't seem to be that bad of a lens; for an older 35mm LTM that is. I was a bit surprised at its performance myself as this is the first roll in which i used the lens period. I received it from Ferider earlier this month and it's been on the IIIc ever since.

Cheers

Lovely! As a grandpa, I can burn miles of film on my grandsons. Those baby pics bring back great memories. Thanks!

Xtol at 1:3 will give you more tonality, but less contrast. It takes longer to develop, and I never seem to be able to use up a batch by using it 1:3, but I like the results.

Very nice images!

Thanks Dave 1. for posting great pics 2. for posting babies pics of whom (apparently) you are not even the father, thereby freeing us parents of the guilt of posting babies pics (even if not that great) in the open
🙂

Nice shots...genuine Leica imagery...

...but don't be damning Summarons with faint praise 😎

Mine's wonderfully sharp and contrasty...it's better than some Minolta SLR lenses whose film I've recently scanned and it's visually equal to my Nokton 50 1/5...it's only weaknesses are the odd focus/f-stop arrangement, an inclination to flare, and the lack of filter threads...making the expensive clamp-on hood manditory for my purposes.

Matter of fact, your IIIC was the absolute pinnacle of camera design (well, there's also Canon P) 😀 No wonder Canon copied it!

I read somewhere than M6 was a German copy of Konica C-35...anything to that?

Neopan 1600 = crunchy good entertainment. (I like the first, messy-hair shot and the table picture the best.)

I have five fresh rolls of it, and a ticket to New York City. Gonna try some in the CL with 40 Summicron at ASA 12500 or 25000, indoors, bar lighting. It's worked for me with T-Max 3200. Will report.

I made an inexpensive hood by gluing a trashed A36 clamp-on filter to a modified 39mm B+W hood.

The baby pics speak volumes to those of us who've gone through that. The mom with the messy hair because there's no time and she's too tired anyway.....
