bbc.com has an article on a suggestion to use the "safer" Thorium in place of Uranium in nuclear reactors. Take a look at your "yellowish" older lenses, and realize that your lens could be your own nuclear reactor! 😀

...and your Coleman lanterns too. They have Thorium in the mantles. I have quite a few Thorium reactors in my basement. Hope the authorities do not find out.

This thread came up for me in 'New Posts' and I see it each time I search.
Since my reply, I have seen several black cars driving slowly in front of my house...

Back in the '60s, I was using a Geiger counter to check a small, screw-tip mounted, calibration source for an instrument (I forget which the element was).
Tick.. tick.tick.... tick ...

Out of curiosity, I brought in a 1920s luminous watch, prossibly having Radium in the numerals paint.
White noise wipe-out from the counter 😀 .
 
Well, they still have to build an actual reactor that works with the stuff and after that prove it is safer.

Now, my SMC 50/1.4 is a lot more radioactive than any smokedetector I tested 😀

When you use New Posts, it pops up. This is correct.
What I said was that when I log on to RFF, I see "active threads", and there, this thread is not shown.
