bbc.com has an article on a suggestion to use the "safer" Thorium in place of Uranium in nuclear reactors. Take a look at your "yellowish" older lenses, and realize that your lens could be your own nuclear reactor!

...and your Coleman lanterns too. They have Thorium in the mantles. I have quite a few Thorium reactors in my basement. Hope the authorities do not find out.

Back in the '60s, I was using a Geiger counter to check a small, screw-tip mounted, calibration source for an instrument (I forget which the element was).

Out of curiosity, I brought in a 1920s luminous watch, prossibly having Radium in the numerals paint.

Well, they still have to build an actual reactor that works with the stuff and after that prove it is safer.
Now, my SMC 50/1.4 is a lot more radioactive than any smokedetector I tested

What I said was that when I log on to RFF, I see "active threads", and there, this thread is not shown.
