Thoughts... and dilemmas!

if leica m4 is too expensive, and you're good with aux finders, i'd recommend a cl. maybe with a cv minifinder on top, ... it's the best little camera i've ever tried. imo of course (with emphasis on IMO!)

BTW, one cam, one lens,... is the ultimate way to do photography (another imo) though i certainly/unfortuneatly don't live by it

Wtt R3 - R4???

Wtt R3 - R4???

I'm totally perplexed with this. :bang: 😀

I'm in need of easy solution that would putt my worries about gear aside, and I would just have to shoot.

After I found this...

R4framelines_500px.jpg

...I'm now on two options:

1. 35mm external metal finder
2. Swapping mine R3A for R4A/M (if I can find someone in need of beautiful 1:1 finder 😀 )

Comparing framelines of R3 and R4 I came to think that R4 would be ideal solution, especially cause I will not have any external parts to think about... or loose...

So... is there someone with diametrical problem willing to exchange some gear?

I have the VC 35mm brightline metal viewfinder for my R2M. I also wear glasses. That's why I often have trouble with the builtin viewfinders of my cameras. The R2M 35mm framelines perfectly suite my needs with my glasses, but I do prefer the external viewfinder. Even though it makes the camera a bit bulky, I find it more easy to take a snapshot in "scale-focus-mode" with it. It's quick at the eye, your face is even less blocked with the camera and the view seems more "natural" to me than through the normal viewfinder.
If you go for one of those viewfinders, Nikola, be sure to get some protection for your glasses too. Aki-Asahi has those adhesive patches - three for US$ 3.50 - (Link) which also fit the VC 35mm finder perfectly. Without such a patch you will definetly scratch your glasses.

Hi yoyo, and thanks... could you compare eye relief in external finder to internal?

I have "real" glasses with glass lenses not that hyped polytrililalicarbonatesomething that are prone to scratching (I can't stand scratches). 😀 ...and this is probably the reason for me needing the biggest eye relief out there. 🙁

Nikola ... go to the "_bay" and look for the FSU viewfinders they cost about $35 - $40 and mount on your hotshoe. It's a good stop gap for you without requiring you spend lots of money just for a viewfinder. If cash isn't an issue then just buy a camera with the 35 mm frameline

cheers, Jan
