Leica LTM Thoughts on this Golden Camera?

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I think the general consensus is (at least based upon my informal survey, and those of the dealer/friend of mine from whom I bought the camera) is that it is in fact a Leica, and the 'Luxus' treatment was done by someone after the fact (probably not Leitz).

I'm treating it as a real Leica, but a fake Luxus......however, that's quite a bit of effort to 24k gold plate the parts!

So a real Leica, with a real Elmar made to look like a Luxus with real gold? That alone makes it quite interesting. I'd love to know more about it.

I wouldn't worry too much about using it, most people won't have a clue (although I it might draw quite a bit of attention). The people who have a clue will assume it is a kitschy FED or Zorki, worth next to nothing.

I was having an end-of-a-hard-working-day conversation late yesterday with my good friend and camera repair king, Frank Marshman, and he brought up an interesting point: if you were spending all that money on a Luxus back in 1931, how much would you actually USE the thing? I don't think you'd be doing any hard-hitting photojournalism with your gold plated/lizard clad camera, so it may have just been a conversation piece for the rich. Therefore, should we really be surprised to see ones in really nice shape?

Sorry, I'm still trying to convince myself that this camera is real and the Tahitian vacation home CAN be a reality
