thoughts on using 2 x-e1's instead of x-e1 & xp1?

i currently am lucky enough to own both an x-e1 and an x-pro1...i have a bias towards the x-e1 lately as it makes for a very compact kit along with my lenses.
i prefer to have 2 bodies...sometimes to shoot together if changing lenses would impede my getting some shots...and also just to have a back-up body..i have this fear of not having a working body.

i have been thinking that i might enjoy using a second x-e1 body instead of 2 different bodies.

the cons for the xp1 are...a bigger body and no diopter adjustment which leaves the finder a touch blurry for me.
the biggest pro is that it has the added ovf.

i can't say that i notice any difference in build even though the pro body has more metal to it.

i'm not asking what i should do but i am asking what you have done...so for those who shoot/have 2 bodies...which 2 did you go with and why?
 
Outside of the ovf, the other advantages to the xp1 are
- bigger body/ heavier body means big lenses balance better for example speed booster w/ the 24-85f2.8-4 nikor zoom actually balances ok
- the buttons seems to be hair better spread out
- heavier means better dampening during shutter release

On the other hand if u don't care about the ovf, then two xe1 make a lot of sense..

Me... Eventually I will get two of the same body... Depends on what the next gen is like.

NEX-7 and X-E1. They compliment each other in a variety of ways. The NEX7 is fast, great DR at low iso, has a tilt screen and does fHD video at 60fps, but it's also noisy, doesn't work well with wide lenses, JPEGs have too much NR at all settings .etc...

The X-E1 is quiet, doesn't have color issues with my 28mm, more discreet and JPEGs are excellent, it also performs better than the NEX7 by about 1.5 stops above iso 800. My usual dual body setup is the 18mm Distagon on the X-E1, a 50mm on the NEX-7 and an extra 35 or 90 in the bag. I will be selling both if anyone comes out with a FF mirrorless, though.

my biggest lens is the 60 and likely that will remain the same...i am completely satisied with the lens kit i have.
buttons are ok on both for me...though having the replay button in 2 different places does get irritating at times.
my goal is to stick with the current bodies and do my best to resist new models...

2 completely different systems would drive me to therapy...(only a slight exaggeration)
 
Forgot to mention an xp1 and xp2 is what I am thinking about. I am keeping the xe1... The 27 pancake is gong to be an almost permanent fixture on the xe1 🙂

I think Gary has it. There are advantages to a larger body.
If you don't ever expect to use longer FL heavier lenses maybe the XE is the body to have two of.
I prefer the bigger XP1. Wish it had the XE1 EVF 😀
Maybe in the XP2.

I say go for it. If you think it will work.

I shoot almost exclusivly manual lenses, which helps ironing things out a bit. It can get a bit stressful when you are straining to remember what lens and body took a certain picture, though...

I also use only 32G cards on the NEX-7 and 16G ones on the X-E1, back files up by lens/body combo in .DNG, and make a note on my cellphone whenever I do a lens change outside. If I'm working with a tripod, I also take down the aperture of every shot...I have cornerfix profiles for every lens I own on every whole aperture, it usually takes half an hour to sort a day's shooting and correct the keepers.

Maybe I'm the one who actually needs therapy...

i don't know what fuji has planned but the bigger lenses are the zooms and for sure i will not be using a zoom in the future.
my minolta lenses, when used, go on the x-e1 because of the better evf.

wow...i am way too lazy for any of that!
 
They talked about maybe some fixed length tele. Traditionally that would be 135f2.8, 180f2.8 and 200f4 come to mind as possibilities.

Man... I would trade it towards an x100s.
At least for the sake of comparison with the XE1/27 kit.
You're into trying new kit out. Embrace it! Getting another XE1 is just going to be having two of the same.
For that matter just go with one body.

the x-e1 and 27 has stopped any interest in the x100s...same size and lens interchangeability...
i like having 2 of the same body...remember this is the guy who had 3 canon p bodies...
i'd love to sell the x-pro1 and just shoot with one body but my lack of good mental health makes that very difficult.
