Nah. Good butter pecan ice cream is possibly the best food on the planet. Although... almonds in dark chocolate give it a good run.

For me, these three lenses would be greatest for either film or digital rangefiinder setup.

Thats a tough one:
Generally it would be 28 hexanon, 35 cron v. 4 and 75 lux
but if I were traveling light, I'd change it to:
CV15, 35 cron v.4 and 90 tele-elmarit

21/4 Super Angulon
50/1 Notilux
40/2 Summicron

I have 2/3 of that trio. I hear that the 35mm UC-Hexanon is a direct cousin of the 35/1.8 Nikkor.

O'kay,
Mine would be the 35/2 V4, 50/1.4 ASPH and the 90 Thambar. I own the 75 Cron so that doesn't count.
The Thambar is my dream lens especially for a portrait lens. This lens has to have one of the most distinct signatures of all Leica lenses. I think it could make the ugliest duckling into a swan. Now if I just had a spare $4500.00, I suppose I could sell the M8

I would have two line ups for the three lens kit: Crowded city scapes it would be 21/4,5 Biogon, 35f2 Biogon and 50f1.4 Summilux Asph. Second kit: more "open" type of shooting: 25/2,8 Biogon or 25f4 VC, 40f1.4 Nokton and 75/2 Summicron.
Two lens kit (in my case on two M2's): 35f2 Summicron IV and a 50f1.4/1.5 (either the 50f1.4 Asph or the 50f1.5 C-Sonnar). The two lens kit coiuld also be a 35f2 (either Biogon or Summicron) and the 75/2 Summicron on a 0.72 MP/M6
It all depends how far you have to lug it and where you are.
The nostalgia kit would be: 21/3,4 S-A, the 8 element 35f2 and the 50f2 Summicron DR and 75-80 Leica IXMOO cassettes loaded with Double XX amd a good travel agent!

i'd say the best two lens kit is the 28/50 pair because you use both of them a lot. people that like 35/75 seem to use the 35mm much more than the 75mm.

being mostly poor but liking nice gear and liking to buy & sell in order to test out gear, i think i have got my faves now.
25/35/50, all zeiss and the 50 is a sonnar.
if i had to choose a 2 lens kit it would be 25/50 combo. but if i had to choose a one lens kit...it would be the 35.

Roland, I am curious how do you deal with the front/back focusing "feature" of the Sonnar? I've been thinking of trying that lens but that apparent issue has stopped me so far.ferider said:If I would get rid of everything else, I would keep the C-Sonnar
and 28 Ultron.
Not exactly a Leitz answer, I know, but this
would be the most general purpose 2 lens kit for me.
Best,
Roland.

I'd second this kit, and suggest another:
Same as above, just remove 35mm lens and replace it with 90/2.8 Hexanon.
Well, thats a dream kit for me, yet what I use now is CV 25/4P, 50/2 Hex and 90/2.8 Hex.

Hi Andy,
I use it on an M3 like this:

Works very well. Best,

PS: do you know that the Hexar AF does internal focus shift correction ?

Not sure about the 50mm lenses since I never tried a Noctilux... The other lenses I have and like them a lot.

Thanks for reminding me what a cool camera the Hexar AF is. I read again about that feature here http://www.dantestella.com/technical/hexar.html. There is a list of fun hacks into the OS of the Hexar, I think I am ready to try some as soon as I find the URL
Cheers,
