Let's see
We've sent a camera around the world and made a book of the results
We bought a stranger a new and expensive camera
We've organized print swaps
We've had numerous rff events in cities and regions around the world
We've had the yearly gear give-away
And that's just scratching the surface

Not bad for real world presence and impact from a virtual community

I challenge that comment ... I don't know about being a stranger?

I will confess to being strange though! :D

How could you not love this place ... somewhere to hide from the real world occasionally where you can openly discuss your obsession with people you know will understand. :)

PLUS I just completed a lens trade (My DR for his Summaron) between me in Northern California and gbegonja in Zagreb, Croatia! RFF classifieds ROCK!

Having immigrated from another forum of the irritables and perpetually irritated, I appreciate RFF where it is more important to support and encourage. Ciao!

Seriously, I've been to other forums too and only the Large Format Photography forum is anything like RFF. But, can't say I've seen it all, so YMMV.
 
RFF is one of the high-water marks of our civilization. No need to compare: there is no comparison. I even love the black background: the photos look better and it's easier on the eye in the middle of the night. I bought a perfect Hexar AF through the classifieds and was never so confident about a long distance deal. And my share of the Aus RRF HP5+ cache arrived yesterday. Thanks Keith. Thanks Stephen. Thanks everyone.

I think we all know how cool this place is........it is a great community here and I have met some really cool people from this site and I have learned a lot and have been inspired countless times by photos and comments that users have posted.......

a big thanks to everybody for making this forum interesting and enjoyable...........

I've been visiting (stalking) this forum for over a year now and this is my first post/comment. I just felt compelled to say that I agree, this is a terrific community. Everyone is usually kind, encouraging, and invaluably helpful to someone like me who is a relative newcomer to the world of rangefinders. Thanks to all who, without even knowing, have taught me so much about gear, the craft of photography, and sometimes even things that have nothing to do with photography!
 
I gladly chime in and agree with previous posters! This IS by far the best of all forums and we not only have RF people but SLR and digital people. What more can one ask?
 
Threads like this pop up from time-to-time. I think it must have something to do with stars and planets or something since it is a worldwide phenomenon. I agree, however, so it's fine.
Joe, is that fresh made ice cream from one of the vendors at that food market you like?
If so, I'm on line.
