I like the why that combination renders colors. What apertures did you use? I'm trying to sort our depth of field issues while using this lens on a NEX 5n.

Outside shot was F8 or F11. The baking shot was likely wide open and the dog shot was wide open or f2. I don't remeber exactly what I shot at so these are my best guesses.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Hopefully my Hawks adapter will arrive soon so I can start experimenting.

What other lens combinations have you used with your NEX?

Hi, nice fov the 40mm on a apsc camera, i used it a lot on my late epson rd1s and it shined!
it´s almost perfect 60 mm fov and is much fun to use dof on the other hand the 35mm lens gives you about 53 fov and much more dof so..the nokton is a great lens for everyday use...

Not to mention from 2.4 on it´s better than the cron 40!

Bye!

Thanks I do like the FOV, it doesn't feel much longer than a standard 50mm lens on a 35mm camera. The biggest problem for me is focusing on the NEX C3. I don't find the peaking to be that great and using the 7x or 15 magnify is s bit difficult for moving subjects.

Hi nice picture from the nokton.

Actually I am deciding on either the NEX 5N or C3 to be use on my Voigtlander lens.
Would appreciate some advice from you guys on which camera to get.
I am sure both does have the focus peaking features & share the same sensor.
well, does 5N would be a better option for manual lens?

Because if its not much difference I could save a bit taking the C3 & get the hawk adapter.

seriously thinking of NEX 5N over C3 or 7

+1 in the same boat .... getting ready for NEX

as near as I can tell

C3, no evf at all, works with WA RF lenses
5N can add external EVF, works with wide RF lenses
7 built in VF, +8mpix, some vignetting with WA RF lenses

If any one cares to add to my short difference list, please chime in!

My experience with the NEX 5N

My experience with the NEX 5N

I just rec'd my 5N with an external viewfinder. After using it for a few days with the Hawk's 2.5 adapter and my CV 15, 40, 28, and Hexanon 50 lenses I like it very much. The sensor is sharp with the 15 (well as sharp as it is on my M8). Focusing is really easy. I'm using the red edges and they really jump out at you. I like using the external viewfinder when I'm outdoors. Indoors the rear LCD is very nice. I took a few ISO 12800 shots and while there is noticeable noise they pictures look usable for small prints. Certainly as good as my Nikon D700.

So far the only thing I don't like is the lens release button on the Hawk's adapter. It's right where the tip of my middle finger naturally falls when grasping the NEX's hand grip. If it pinches me once more I'll sell it and get a different adapter.
