Just received this - a friend stumbled across it while traveling and called me and I made the purchase sight unseen over the phone, so I was a little nervous but am now delighted. Story is my friend was hunting for some parts at middle of nowhere thrift stores and stumbled across "a film leica" and knowing I shoot film and use a leica he called me. Guy at the shop said he bought all the contents of the house of someone who died about 6 months ago and the camera had been sitting in his shop since then. The only thing he was able to tell me was that it was an M3 and came with two lenses. My friend sent a crappy cell phone pic and I agreed to buy it.
I just received:
SS M3 just over 1M serial number. Black seal still intact on lens mount. view finder looks bright and clear when looking through it though from the front you can see a little prism separation. It's pretty dirty, but feels super smooth and all speeds are correct. Only marks are some wear near the lugs what are obviously from straps.
A Leica Hektor 135mm which seems to be from 1936
A Canon Serenar 135mm
(both lenses are in pretty hazy shape)
2 old Leitz LTM to M converters on 90mm one 135mm
Total including shipping: $300
It's not one of those "I found this for $25!" deals, but I figured I could sell the lenses and converters on ebay and make back most of that cost, then basically have an M3 for the cost of a CLA and minor repairs. I didn't think I'd ever shoot with a meterless camera again, but this was a deal too good to pass up. And worst case, I can always find someone to take if off my hands.
