I often find that I am most satisfied with photos that I have taken through windows or involving windows. I think are a number of reasons for this. Windows are a quite natural way to frame images (literally so in many cases) and framing is an important compositional tool that helps zero the viewer's attention in on the subject and also give the subject context that might otherwise be lacking. I am also often happy with the way reflections and shadows (and, for that matter even distortions) can add a certain mystery to images which otherwise could be somewhat bland. And I suppose that as street photography is mostly (but not always) about people going about their everyday business, the slight suggestion of surreptitiousness brought about by taking a photo though a window, with the subject in a more private world, adds a certain element, perhaps of non-salacious voyeurism (or perhaps better thought of in this context, as simple innocent people watching).
In any event I thought this might be an interesting theme for a thread to which people could contribute their own photos. I do not know that this has been done quite in this way before as a theme. A few starters.............................Some people may have seen some of these before. I will add a few others as I go if that helps keep others interested and contributing.
