I looked at these pics earlry morning (at work) on non calibrated cheapo screen and I thought, great pictures but that lens sucks, what a waste. Now at home coming back looking at the pics again, wow what a difference on a proper monitor. Thanks for sharing. That must have been an experience of a lifetime.

Wonderful photos, all with that unique M9 rendering. They remind me of when I went to China in 2007 and I had a Canon G7 and Fuji Natura Black; if I could do it again, I would take the M9.

It's very unfortunate westerners are barred from experiencing the wonders of this magical place, due to politics. I hope this can change very soon -- not only for the benefit of long-suffering Tibet but for the long-term stability and safety of China itself (a place I've visited often and love).

Politics aside, you're very fortunate to see this place and photograph it for yourself...I would suggest more visits, and I bet your images will change and evolve with more experience seeing that place. They're already strong, so it'd be fascinating to see what they become with more visits.

Again, I will mirror the other posts, wonderful photos. I am wondering how did you get in. I have been living in Sichuan for almost 2 years, and I have been told by the local officials they are not letting foreigners in to Tibet.

It changes almost daily. I've been in Beijing for two years and many of my friends have gone (foreigners). It really depends on if it is a holiday or if any monks have self-immolated recently.

Also, you must go in with a tour group. That can be a tour group of one though, it is done so that you have a watchdog of sorts with you. It is common though to be able to leave your guide after passing the checkpoints.

The potographer i very competent in takingphotos, and the camera and lens are known to e excellent, so this left either/or a posting issue or it was my laptop. Since your computer screen also shows dark images with low sharpness, there seems to be a posting issue.
