Hi,

I own a Uniphot Tiltall Tripod and would like to use a ball head on it.
I'm looking for a black headless MONO COLUMN that will fit. I've heard of people using a Gitzo Series 3 center column as a replacement. Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

hi
i also have this tripod (different manufacturer), and am interested in the answers you get about a replacement center column.

just FYI, when you search 'tiltall', you may run across a website which offers repairs, parts, etc. i didn't bookmark the site, but one of the items he offered was a replacement center column with flat round plate. price was around $40+, i believe.

i also think it's likely that aluminum tube extrusions come in various standard diameters. maybe you (me too) can measure the diameter of the current tube, and get the supplying shop to weld a top plate on it?

good luck

rick

ps. my tiltall post seems to be 30mm in diameter

From owning a older Leitz Tiltall, I don't believe the round camera plate comes off.. I may be mistaken though.

Rick:
I'm also in Europe and it's imposible to find aluminum/steel tube with that diameter + also looking for a black finish center post.

DNG:
The original Machioni and Leitz had removable heads, the others don't + some parts are not interchangeable (depends on manufacturer).

Frank:
I contacted Gary a few days ago but no answer so far.

I wish I could just walk into B&H/Adorama and test several center posts ... gosh, I miss NYC.

Thank you all,
Robert

I most had a latter one.... I bought it new around 1980ish for $110.00 with case.
Still made in NY for E.Leitz
I believe "Star=D" had it for a while too under their label.

Hi,

I've been to many garage sales in Rutherford NJ, but I didn't hit the mother-lode :D.

Off the top of my head:

* To create stitched panoramic pictures

* So I can use a Arca type QR clamp

* Avoid damaging my Rolleiflex 3.5f

* Less weight (carbon fiber center post)

Regards,
Robert
