Time to sell but which to keep

Out of interest I'd like to know what you would do in my circumstances. I am decluttering my camera collection and am about to despatch a set of kit to a well-known secondhand dealer for commission sale. The main reason being that I have a lot of underused kit, many of which overlap, so I'd be interested to hear your choices about which to keep and which to let go:

I plan to keep one camera of each format.

Zeiss Ikon
Voigtlander R3a, R4a
Minolta CLE
Hasselblad Xpan 1
Zorki 4k

2. 35mm SLRs
Nikon F
Nikon FE

3. Medium format
Hasselblad 500cm
Rolleiflex 3.5 planar v4
Yashicamat 124g
Fuji GA645
Mamiya 645e

3. Digital
Leica M8
Fuji X100s
Sony A7ii

Leica MP, Nikon F, in medium format it really depends if you need to make any close up or tele photos, if yes, keep the Hassy if not keep the Rollei, in digital I would keep an Iphone and sell the rest

1. Tough choice. If you use it regularly, MP, otherwise M2.
2. Nikon F.
3. The Hassy.
4. M8 , the first leica digital M and will likely retain residual value for longer. Makes nice images too, apparently 🙂

MP, FE, R3.5, A7ii

Best of all worlds for what you need. Being able to use the A7ii for interchangeable lenses from MP and FE, and having the Rollei for the MF needs... unless you want interchangeable lenses... the keep the hassy.

What about metering? Keeping the M2 would avoid battery and expensive or non-existent repairs but means a meter. But built in meters mean long term worries for me when they fail...

So I'll wish you luck.

It also depends on how important the cash return is on the sale. Clearly keeping the 124g will improve your cash flow but its not in the same league as the Rollei or Hassy.

Without the economic considerations I would go with

Leica MP
Nikon F
Hasselblad
Leica M8

Although I do love my Fuji X100 the Leica will give you lens options that can be used on your MP and shooting B&W on the M8 is a joy.

If you're keeping a Nikon for 35mm then keep the X-Pan as the other ones are redundant for the end result of 35mm. The X-Pan is in a class all its own and provides something the others can't.

-If you want to raise cash I'd keep the M2, FE, Yashicamat, X100s.

You'll get more $ out of the others and this is still a diverse range.

-If it is not really about the cash I'd keep the MP, X-pan, F, Rollieflex, and the X100s.

They are the best of each class (IMHO) and the X100s adds the auto everything amongst otherwise fully manual cameras. The M8, while great, replicates the MPs shooting experience, and I'm not a fan of the A7's. The X-pan is its own class, and if you use it you should keep it. If you don't use it then it can raise some good cash.

Great food for thought here.

My thinking is:

M2 - though a difficult choice between this and the M3
FE (for sentimental reasons above the F as I've had it for longer)
Hasselblad (something about it I like)
Sony A7ii - for convenience and versatility.

I am a practical man...
Leica MP -- the others are fun to own, but the MP is all you really need.
Nikon F -- worth almost nothing why sell it? Will work forever.
Fuji GA645 -- by far most reliable, but it is a toss up with the Hassy.
Fuji X100s -- again it or the SONY A7ii, whichever you like better, worth about the same.

And last, do you really need medium format?

I have rule about possessions which are not collectibles, if I have not used them for 2 years, I consider them for deacquisition.

A minor point, when deciding which ones to keep but I don't think it applies here, is to make sure you don't end up with too many different types of battery. Worst, imo, is having to buy three of one type and keeping them as a set of two (for some cameras) and a single one for the others...

Keep the MP & the Nikon F. For medium format sell it all & get a Holga. Personally I like the X100's but love mfogiel's comment about the iphone.
