Well i am ready to try my first roll of film tonight or more likely tomorrow.
I Have a few questions for everyone here.

I Have Tmax 100 and plan to use ID-11 at 1+1 for 9.5 mins going by the digitaltruth site. Is this a suitable dev time to start with for my first roll?
How often should i be inverting for this time?

Is it ok to use normal tap water as a stop? Everywhere i read it seems to be ok.

Im using Ilfrod Rapid Fixer at 1+4. Should i mix up more then required and store it to use again. How long does it last? And how much time is required for it?

As for a film squeegee can i just use a lint free cloth or soemthing? The shop didnt have any when i was there today.

I plan on using an old roll to practice loading several times before i use an exposed film

Ilford ID-11 is Ilford's copy of the Kodak D-76 formula. Try the D-76 times recommended by Kodak, they'll be very close, if not perfect.

9.5 minutes at 68 degrees (20C) is what my tests show to be the correct developing time for Tmax 100 in D-76 1+1, and if I remember correctly, that is Kodak's recommendation as well.

I invert the tank continuously for the first 30 seconds, then every 30 seconds, I invert it twice, banging the bottom of the tank on the palm of my hand after each inversion to dislodge air bubbles that stick to the film. I do that during the first 30 seconds too.

Normal tap water as stop is perfect, its what I use.

Tmax films require 5 minutes in Ilford Rapid Fixer. This is longer than some other films, but the Tmax films need it. Tmax films exhaust fixer faster than other films. I do only 20 rolls in a gallon of working-strength fixer...so it can be reused, but keep track of the number of rolls.

Do not squeegee the film with anything, EVER. You WILL scratch the film. Use a wetting agent like Kodak photo flo or Ilford LFN as the final rinse after washing the film and hang it to dry with no squeegeeing.

You're welcome. I forgot to mention something about wetting agents. I use Kodak Photo-Flo, because it is what the local shop has always sold. Kodak says to dilute it 1+200 in water. I dilute it 1+400, because it leaves a sticky residue on film if mixed as strong as Kodak's instructions say! We had a discussion on RFF a couple weeks ago about it, with a lot of guys saying they were having trouble with Photo-Flo leaving residue and drying marks. I told the guys there to try my higher dilution and it worked for them too.

I have not tried the Ilford stuff, so I don't know if it works ok following Ilford's directions or not.

Regardless of which brand you buy, mix it in distilled water...tap water can sometimes cause dust or spots in the emulsion when used for the wetting agent (depends on your local water, but Distilled is only $1 a gallon so I just use it anyway).

Using any film + developer combination is a matter for personal testing. The Kodak/Ilford/Online time & temperature charts are a starting point. Refine your process to suit your eye and your equipment.
There are better ways to develop Tmax film than D-76/ID-11. Experiment.

Thanks for all the info guys.
I did my first roll yesterday. Im happy with the result and got some usable negs for scanning.
I will have to get my scaner soreted now. It certainly is a nice feeling to do my first roll.
