heh, I saw that Simon Larbalestier was the last post here and thought I'd post now because I'm going to include him on my list (for a particular body of work that influenced me greatly at one point in my life, albeit in conjunction with some very influential graphic design). So... not necessarily "top" 5, but at least 5 that come to mind:

Anyway: my fav´s are Avedon, Lindbergh, Nachtwey, Cartier-Bresson and Struth - my favourite photographer of the "Becher-Schüler" like Gursky, Hütte and Höfer, I really like the work of Thomas Struth best.

I have to admit that it took a while before I found the fascination in the work of Cartier-Bresson or the war-photographer Nachtwey. Portraiture and fashion is easier and more impressive for a teenager who starts with photography ...

I find it interesting to read other people's faves. I have to ask you, thougg, why Jonvelle? As a teenager I tried to like his work but I always found it too simple and easily copied. Of course, I am curious and I respect your choices as Jonvelle was renowned.

I like Jonvelle's work for the tenderness towards women he shows. Of course choices are just a matter of taste. There are so many more photographers I didn't mention on my short list.
