Each eBay listing has a link at the bottom called "report this item." When you spot things like this, click the link and report the slug. I did so for this listing and so did a previous responder as well.

Looks like someone took the bait... there doesn't appear to be any way to warn the over zealous deal hunter that it smells fishy. Hope eb*y get involved.

These pop up constantly and you generally onlysee the odd ebay newbie bidding. I report them as soon as I see them. The other day I spotted an M6 buy it now for $900.00 ...... Immaculate of course. Reported it to ebay ....... saw it sell? Then a few hours later it got listed again and someone else took the bait! Eventually ebay removed the item and deregistered the seller.
I don't think it's ebay that is the problem I think it's human nature. There are always going to be a certain amount of ****holes out there who are going to try and shaft the buying population. We just have to be on out toes!
I have bought a couple of very nice Leicas off ebay but I still get edgy when I click that bid button sometimes!
I have also seen some rather beaten up Leicas go for ludicrous prices. Saw an m3 sell for $3500.00 . It was totally unmarked and had the original box but.....................?

I reported this one to eBoy security - apparently without effect this time. I note that he had a whole bunch of other auctions as well, now he has two. The rest were apparently BIN'd.
With regard to the way scammers appeal to the larceny in all men's hearts, this is true enough. In this case and others like it, I think less appealing to their dishonesty than to their desire to grab what appears to be a 'good deal'.
But I've dealt with too many people who have been burned on eBoy. They don't check seller feedback, they're not suspicious enough, they are too trusting by half. They miss all the warning signs that eBoy tries very hard to educate people about. I'm not making excuses for eBoy, but let me just say this - about 80% of all humanity consists of dunderheads. Well meaning, kind, nice, decent people who haven't a clue. Yes - most people are complete idiots and I have no idea how we managed to claw our way to the top of the food chain.
You can be smart and still get ripped off - sometimes the scam is just too clever. But most who get ripped off are just as dumb as a bag of hair. I still hate the scammers though; there is no honor in ripping off morons.

Fascinating how this seller account was put together. I believe the photos are lifted from a previous auction. The user feedback is right out of Alice in Wonderland.
