50 Lux ASPH. is a no no.
With MP: if you're planning not to buy a new MP later and can get a 'reasonable' price, then sell it.

Well, are you sentimental about gear? Do you really want to hand it down to someone who may not appreciate it? Do you plan to use a lot of film? Do you often regret selling things?
If it was me, I'd sell the MP and get the cheapest M (M2/M3) and use the remainder for the M9.

Mostly I always regret that I sold a camera.
I just got an M8 (keeping my 4 M3's). I mostly got it for travel because of the trouble carrying film on airplanes.
The M8 works great with my Summilux (older version).
I also found out that I can make digital copies of negatives using the M8, a Focoslide with bellows and a Focotar 50mm enlarging lens. (The old system Leica made to copy slides with the M system.) I had been using my R8+DMR to do this.

Not sentimental, it's for making good photos... ideally.
Yes, I have 2-3 years worth of film in the freezer...
Regret, sometimes. And I think I'd regret selling either at this point - so I'm agreeing with the 65+% that voted to keep 'em both.

Bottom Line: Do you use them or not. If you do use them, and plan on using them in the future, then don't sell. However if you don't use them, have other M cameras and lenses that you use, then sell them. I had a number of M camera bodies and many lenses. I re-evaluated what I really used in the last few years, and decided what I wanted to keep. then I sold the rest. I have No regrets. I kept my mint M4-P, 35 Summicron version 4, 50 Summilux, and 90 Elmarit-M. This is the combo that I travel with and enjoy using the most. Can't justify the price of an M9 so film it will be for me. I also use my Mamiya and 3 lenses when I do Landscapes and need/want a larger negative.

In order to fund another purchase, perhaps an M9... would I be crazy to part with a black paint MP in great condition and a Summilux 50mm ASPH that is only a a few months old?
And how much would you pay for these items?
You should sell them to me for a hundred bucks. Just kidding! Check out some of the Leica re-sellers like KEH and Sherry Krauter for ideas on pricing. A lot depends on the condition, but these sites will give you a good idea where to start.
I voted for sell, but only 'cause I want them!

I'd say you've hit the magic formula. Sell the lens for 8 grand, then buy another for 4, repeat a few time a year, quit your job and live the high life.
ps, if it were me, I'd keep the camera.

Keep the glass. You need that for your M9. If you sell the glass away with the MP, you'll kick yourself for that after you have the M9 in your hands.
+1 on that. You'll be like :bang:

I had a similar decision: I had a black paint MP and a black paint 35/2 'cron. I traded it in on an M9 and 50/2 'cron and I've never been sorry for a moment. If anything I've been enjoying photography more than I did before, there's something really special about the M9, making it a wonderful experience to shoot, much as my MP was.

良かったね!
Assuming that the MP scratches a particular itch for you, will it become cheaper in 3 or so years? I doubt it. However, the M9 will drop in value and price because, unlike film, digital is unsettled technology. Be patient. Or rebuy the MP later. Hey, the dollar is devaluing. ;-)
