The basics have not changed in 20 years, just some of the technology. Obviously, shoot the bride getting dressed, the couple arriving and saying "I do." But also get all the attendees. If there are tables, shoot each table.
What is the venue for ceremony and reception? What is you new camera?

The video didn't come out very well (my fault) but the stills were great. Having a beautiful bride with a lovely dress helped.

The venue was the grooms home and the camera was a D750, shot mostly with a 24-85 zoom and SB700 flash. Camera/lens/flash worked better than I expected.

Having photographed 100+ weddings I have a bit of experience and have done plenty of home weddings. In my experience they are relaxed and enjoyable venues. The participants enjoy the day and everything goes well.

Happy to hear the stills are excellent! Shooting weddings of people you know can be fun although you don't get to drink much of the bubbly. In the digital age, you don't have to fret about what you got and rush to the darkroom to find out !

Only done two weddings , didnt enjoy either , find it hard to control people and remain polite.

Beautiful bride in a nice dress always helps getting good pictures. I only did two weddings (I will do one in February) and I like doing it, even if it is stressful. The only thing I hate is the post processing afterwards, it is so boring....

Anyway, it sounds like you did a good job!

Hi,

Did one years ago in Croydon, on a Saturday.

Outside the Town Hall were three or four wedding parties with brides etc waiting in the street for their turn; more inside and they whipped it through and then they all went over the road to the town hall garden (next to the nick for those of you who remember).

Everywhere you looked there were brides and grooms and new mothers in law. I just hoped each group got the right party in the photo's. And the right groom and bride went on the honeymoon together. ;-)

Post processing involved editing out the drunks on the park benches in the background and there were the people walking dogs and the public lavatories in the background where the cars had to park to discharge the brides...

It would have been worse in the days of 620 film.

Wasn't that part of the scene? Why edit then out? Just wondering.

Well, two versions of the photo's were handed over but you never can guess what people want can you? I liked the originals, that day was a bit chaotic and I feel it should be a record of what happened.

I just caught up with your thread here. Glad the stills came out well. Video? . . . you need multiple cameras, extensive editing, music overlays .... not easy at all to do well.

I did 6 weddings in my life, and that was 10 too many 😀
