Too Much HC110 Syrup: What Effect?

Hi All,

I realized thanks to a recent post on this wonderful forum that I have been developing my own film at home using 37.5 mL of HC-110 syrup in a 300 mL beaker instead of 4.7 mL like I was supposed to. What effect would that have, normally?

My negs came back uniformly developed (a function of agitation, no?) but with lots of grain and in most cases very overexposed. However, also turns out I was using a Konica S2 with a sticky shutter, hence the overexposure. The highlights were maybe a little blown out, too, but I just chalked that up to my error also.

Now I can't wait to develop my next roll properly souped!

at 37.5 ml that was about a 1:9 dilution. Your film probably would have been developed in about 1 1/2 or 2 min's.

This was probably a 2-4 stop push, so the graininess and blocked up highlights sound about right.

Thanks for the replies. I developed a roll last night properly mixed/diluted, and it came out just fine. Haven't cut and scanned the negatives yet, but the tonal range is improved as is the grain. Stupid me!
