As a long time FD user with A-1's and an AE-1, I voted for the F-1.
Now I've got to track down the FD thread. I've been busy working and not spending enough time on the internet...

SL MOT. A tank amongst cameras. Mind you the motor has a mind of it's own and has new been discarded.
If you have never looked through the viewfinder of one of these cameras you simply won't understand.

Here's a solitary vote for the canon at-1, behind the time even when it came out apparently..
Its not even evil really, but it's never let me down.
It's plucky, that's what it is...

It's easy:
1) Nikon FM2n Black
2)Nikon FM3a Black
3)Nikon FM2 Black
4)Nikon FM2n Silver
5)Nikon FM3a Silver
Hmm would include F5 but these are to bulky

I think we should allow one vote per camera owned.
Then I could put the Nikons ahead of the Olympus SLR's by myself.

Finally, Pentax is on the poll. For me, its the Spotmatic if we're talking 35mm SLR's.
Hey...how'd that 'appen?
I was thinking about how to re-do the poll to appease the plethora of Pentaxphiles about to pounce me, but obviously someone got to it before me.

As real work horses, I'd say fairly confindently that the toss up here is between the OM's and the F's. The Canon is, well, a Canon. EEK!
I'm with the F.
I'm with the F.

Living in Chicago for almost 20 years I have to ask, and that's a problem for who?

Ah... the infamous sticky mirror syndrome. Well, that is the price of being an early adopter. I'm sure some of the other cameras on the list had their weaknesses too.The reason: When the Pentax LX was released, I got hold of a pair of them and quickly built a system around them, having sold off my Canon system to help pay for all this. On paper, the LX wrapped up my favorite features of several cameras and put them in a body marginally bigger than an Olympus OM. Whee!
But...you know the joke about pioneers? Less than two months later, I got the equivalent of two arrows in the back when both my LX bodies packed up, victims of what was then a mysterious mirror-box mechanics problem. Pentax' techs couldn't nail the problem (and, believe me, they tried...I got true VIP treatment from them at the time). Ultimately, I gave up, trading the whole lot for a pair of (used) F3 bodies and an MD-4 motor.
While I don't harbor any ill will toward Pentax, that little adventure took a lot out of me. So, for this poll, the LX is off the list.

But wait..... Pentax is now on the poll. can I vote again?

None of my other cameras gave me a peep of trouble (I got the F-1n when it first came out, but as that was essentially a warmed-over version of the original, perhaps it doesn't count).

The best camera is one that still works!
Come on all you OM owners ... I've notice the OM is hunting the Nikon down in the poll and it won't be long before it screams past IMO.
Maybe I was a little hasty there!

Nikon FM2n is the most evil of them all.
Aside from the mechanical shutter with a top speed of 1/4000 I read that the FM2 has the ability to do multiple exposures via a lever setting!
I do love my OM's but ..........

My favorite film camera above even my M2 is my 1969 Nikon F.
Yes Chippy, I do use mine along with my F2's and Nikkormats on a rotational basis. I had a couple of OM1's and some of the nicer zuiko's, 24,50,85 and 180 but sold them all to concentrate on one x compatible system. It's Nikon's F mount that gets my vote.
