Thanks! Actually I don't know if my particular example is nice or not quite, I'm running first roll thru it.peterc said:Nice camera.

They're a nice looking camera and I'll hope yours is a prime example. What film do you run through for a test? I try to keep some 8 exposure Kodak 200 rolls around for testing. You can usually get 10 exposures out of them (which is enough to run through a few shutter speed/aperture combinations) and it's fast enough you can see if there are any light leaks.ed1k said:I don't know if my particular example is nice or not quite, I'm running first roll thru it.

if I can make it I may just bring an Oly XA and a Yashica GSN after reading about all the heavy artillery at this show. It seems to be turning into some kinda Leica-fest. So I'll be the otherside "just for Joe" ;-)

Well, friend of mine did a basic tests running 12 exposures roll when bought this camera for me in Kiev. This is actually third example in a row of his testing just because of scheduled date of my wife's flight back to Toronto. I bet he would continue finding the best example on market for me
I fed it with the only film I have in my fridge at the moment, it's Kodak Profoto 100/36. Leaving Ukraine 3 years ago I brought only my Zenit 11 SLR. Now I decided to buy RF, because under some circumstances I had to postpone buying FM3A... and feel lack of FED I used to have (I never had enough money for such a toy as Kiev camera, probably that's why I choose Kiev
) Now I have Kiev-4M with J-8 lens, my developer tank and thinking to return back to B&W photography... The only problem is an enlarger, new one is too expensive and I can't find someone who would like to rid of his old enlarger so I would help to recycle it for free.

I love black and white. I've been doing a lot more recently. I use digital for a lot of my colour, but film is still best for B&W.ed1k said:Now I have Kiev-4M with J-8 lens, my developer tank and thinking to return back to B&W photography..
We'll talk. My enlarger has gone unused for several years (no place to set up) and I don't really want to part with it (might get the space at some time in the future) extended loan might be an option.ed1k said:The only problem is an enlarger.

It seems like the stars are aligned for a larger gathering of the GTA RFF members than last time when we had 3 in total.

Yes, there was one right after a Thornhill used camera show. We met at a bar on Yonge St. Victor M, Apostata, and myself. I bought a J12 in Contax mount from Apostata, and a round of beer. Victor showed us some fantastic street photographs.

Hey guys, unfortunaltely I won't be able to make it today. That big storm that hit last week brought one of the biggest trees in my front yard down and right accross my driveway. I guess I'll be playing with my Stihl rather than Bessa today.
Hope you guys have a great time and looking forward to seeing some pictures. Maybe I'll get to meet some of you at the next Thornhill show, Nov 27 if I'm not mistaken.
Have fun.

Well it was a love-in. RFF-dom everywhere. Coffees on tables. The sun was out. Several RFF hats were worn. As an aside they look really good. Think I'm gonna order one.
Dave orchestrated a 'massive-dev shot'. The usual suspects I expected showed. Leicanthrope, Bessa Voigtlander, Contax C, Canon-eh, Kommie Kiev, etc. Lotsa fun. Really enjoyed meeting. One of those events where it was even better than could have been anticipated. Nice crew.
Joe, on a personal note the Canon score was 'nada' I also never saw a Nikon! Who knew. I brought off the wall stuff. A genuine RF Zeiss Ikonta B folder (6x4.5), Yashica 35 CC freshly CLA'd by Mark Hama.
With all the Leica's and various other expensive lenses and cams , I guess there was a couple of thousand dollars sitting on the table when shots were taken. When Dave posts his shot you will see what I'm talking about.
BTW : head count was 14, and this may have been the first "International RFF" meeting with several fine friends coming up from NY state. Cheers Guys

I hadn't seen that many Leicas in one place since the heyday of the Queen St. carmera stores.jan normandale said:I guess there was a couple of thousand dollars sitting on the table when shots were taken.
Great outing, and good to meet some of the local RFFers.
I've attached a couple of shots from the (eek!) digital. Hope I've done it right ... haven't attached images on this board before.
Edited to add a couple from a REAL camera.

I can only add that it was a fun meeting and I was really happy to put faces to names. I saw, and got to hold, a full lineage of Argus models, Trius's wonderful Olympus SP's, Jan's awesome Zeiss folder, and some delightful, perky, FSU cams. Plenty of Leicas around too. But above all, it was so pleasant to meet such a great group of people! Thanks for coming, everyone!

I must say that as an economic "bottom feeder" these were the first Leicas that I have seen "in the wild". My previous experiences have only been in shops or the rare (in Rochester) show.
Thanks everyone!

Cool Argus collection sort of an evolutionary set.... I was liking it a lot!
