Throwing this out there for now.
Don't know if the American Thanksgiving long weekend works for folks - thinking maybe the Saturday or Sunday (obviously) - November 24 or 25 -
Guy (grainhound) and myself have been tossing the idea around of doing a local 35mm lens test - so bring out your Lux, Cron, Rons, ZMs, Canons etc. - and we can run them all through one camera and type of film.
There will be beer and food (of course) - location is open to nominations.
Any takers?
Cheers,
Dave

Depending on the date and location I might show up.
My only 35 is the VC Color Skopar C. Not very exotic.

Sure wish I could join you guys particularly since I missed Guy's visit down here a few months ago. But I have no immediate business travel plans to Toronto and being a holiday weekend I will be tied up with family anyway. Hope you guys have a great time and I look forward to more pics of the gang as well as any lens test shots.
Best,
Randy

We’re as much going for beer as testing lenses; no competition for Raid’s exhaustive test of 35s a while ago. I thought it would be an interesting and easily done look at a random sample of what GTA members have in that focal length, some of which may not have shown up in Raid’s test. The VC Color Skopar C is certainly welcome, & 40mm lenses can no doubt be worked in as well. I don’t have ideas at the moment for a venue, but I’d like to find a place large enough to have some interesting out of focus stuff (what do you call the whatever it is in the photo that makes up the shot’s bokeh?).
The Nov. 24/25 weekend works for me - either date. Sorry you can't make it Randy, but there are a few kilometers between the California coast & the shore of Lake Ontario.

I like to come down, but mid December is more suitable for me.
I have a Topcor 35mm in LTM that would be a nice test candidate.
the Elephant & Castle was a good meeting spot in downtown TO.

Can't make this one, lads and lass. I'll be visiting Merkin relatives during the week, so I'll be all travelled out. Have fun!

Bumping this back up - for those that missed the thread yesterday - I'm not tied to that date - it was thrown out there as a suggestion - Elephant and Castle is a nice central meeting point - if you guys prefer, there's always Bluegrass music down at "The Dominion On Queen" (near to Vistek) or similar stuff at "The Rex".
Cheers

I haven't been to the Dominion in a long time. In the west end there's the Rhino with large north-facing windows for nice light. Also, the Liberty Cafe in "Liberty Village". I haven't been in there, but the neighbourhood has lots of interesting contrast between the old and the new cityscape.

I am easy with Rhino in the west end or the Dominion on Queen, late November is a little dicy for me though.... I do like the idea of testing out 35's though I am surprised Frank did not suggest doing a 50 mm test.

The best I can do is a canonet at 40mm. I did purchase a neat Kodak Retina IIa but alas it is only a 50mm

Oh ya.. The Rhino.. that's on West Queen West no?
I think I've been there before.. GOOD beer and lots of room
We'll see about the 24th-25th - I don't want to stretch it to the next weekend because then we're into December and at that point a lot of folks (although not everyone I understand) may have holiday plans well underway.
Cheers

I've given up on the leafs -
Haven't given up on the local RFF folks though.
Two dates that we'll consider - November 25 or December 2 - Can I get some consensus please?
I really like the Rhino location - even if it is a bit "west" for me - I guess I should start a poll

December 2 would be my preference.
