Total number of shutter actuations on M8

Hi All,

Maybe I skipped this information when it was right in front of me:

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell how many shots in total have been taken with an M8 ?:angel:

If you set it up, the numbering will be sequential. Take a look at the last shot's number.
L100 - xxxx.

Thanks Keith. However the counting resets each time I remove and replace the SD Card.
Is there not a way to know the Total number since the first cry of the Shutter ?

There is a hexadecimal number in the exif. Copy it to a hexadecimal to decimal calculator like this one. http://www.statman.info/conversions/hexadecimal.html This is an accurate number that does not get reset. Here is mine. Just use the 79c and convert to decimal. Image Unique ID: 0000000000000000000000000000079c

Thanks for your replies. I have checked mine: 1EA0 which converts to 7840 Shots. That is about
217 ea 36 exposures films. Probably what I was shooting average in 2 years in the past when I only used film Cameras. Now I do not often use the M8 and still burn as much B&W film on other Ms and Screwmounts.

You need some exif-viewer-tool that shows all the exif information in a file. I use photoshop elements and there you can examine the exif-informations in the file information dialogue.
You will probably find a free exif-viewer on a typical file-download sites (e.g. download.com)
