Touch of Klasse

Only recently gave into my curiosity with film. It all started with the taster that Brian Sweeney sent - the Canonet QL17L. I since sourced some film and had it developed by a great guy at work. The momentum grew as I shot more through the Canonet and then the Oly mju-ii. But recently I bought myself the camera I always wanted..the Ricoh GR1v...well not exactly, as I opted for a model without the parts/service issues and with a more comfortable focal length for me...so here it is the Fuji Klasse S. Honestly for my purposes it is perfect! Small, sharp and serious (aka manual where I need it most...and Full Frame).

Well the first roll of Tmax 400 that came out from her was also the first roll I have developed myself (for those so inclined - box speed, Xtol 1+1 for 9.25 minutes). It was touch and go, but out the other end I am completely and utterly converted. There truly is something more substantial to the process of locking up silver halide and then exciting it for only a fraction of a second and then out of the dark...those negatives arrive. Also this was the first time I used my $10 scanner in anger. I think she did well the little Epson V300.

Now, the hunger for an M6 (or M2) has well and truly set in, but I think the Klasse will always remain at hand.

But, I digress and talk is cheap...

The feel and function is identical so you can't go wrong either way IMHO. So down purely to personal preference - and mine happens to be 38mm. This was from my experience with mu43 where I shot over 80% with the 20mm and less than 10% with the 14. Though I suppose if I had the penchant for something wider then the W would be the ideal choice and a fitting bag companion to the S 😉

yes yes I hear what you're saying - 2 Klasses is twice as classy ;-) one silver and one black then to tell them apart quickly. Easy, decision made!
