someone asked me to trade a Rd-1s for his Hasselblatt xpan with the 45 lens.
Do it or not?
Mine is in very good condition, his also he said.
How much do I have to pay for a xpan, if I could get one with lens in very good condtion?

Value wise, that's a fairly even trade, I think. Both are about $1200-$1600 range, depending on the time of day 🙂

sonofdanang, most time film, b+w, selfdevolping. I use the Rd just to have a quick shoot digital possibility with my lenses.

If you are into B&W film and self-developing get the Xpan. It challenges how you see and does great B&W. I have the R-D1 and the Xpan and if I needed to get rid of one it would be the R-D1.

That being said, I don't have to get rid of either and the few times I shoot digital now I like the R-D1.

I just traded a used Canon 5D digital body that had been converted to Infrared for a semi new X-pan 2 with 45mm lens, center filter and kirk l-bracket. I thought that it was a great trade since I never shoot the 5D in favor of another IR camera that I have.

Now I need to find someone who wants to trade a 4x5 field camera system for one of the Nikon 9000's!

Exactly. In terms of cash value IMO the trade is pretty even. Personally I would not do it - my R-D1 gets a lot of use. The Xpan is more of a specialist tool. But if you don't use your R-D1 much, don't need any fast lenses and think you might like to shoot wide-format - it's a good trade.

I would do it assuming you have use for an Xpan. They may be even in value right now, but in a few years...

Very impressive camera. But one question: At the end on the roll is enough place for one or two wide screen shoots, but it take the film away and let the space, is this normal?
