I have never done a trade fo anything over the internet. What is the best, and safest practice for sending something to a complete stranger in the hopes that they send you something in return? I ask because I am in talks with someone on RFF right now. Neither of us have any seller/buyer feedback on this site.
Thanks.
Jay

I just did a partial trade with cash and a camera on another fourm. I think the same would apply here also. have a look at the persons feeback and posting record. This will give you an idea as to there standing in the group. Most here are part of the comunity and take the rep seriously. You could also take there feedback from elsewhere as an indicator.

You said neither of you had feedback at RFF, but do either of you have any feedback on either photo.net or Ebay? Usually if the other person has a good history at either of those sites (as a seller) you can be fairly certain they know what they are doing.

But in the end, always weigh how you might feel if you end up losing everything. If that is a risk you can live with, by all means go ahead. If it is not, walk away.

Good luck.

read the other person's posts and get a feel for them. When I was new here I mailed off a Nikon 85mm lens and received a 75mm Voightlander as a trade , after inspection he sent mine back [cleaning marks, the lens had been opened by the previous owner I did not see, or know how to look for😱 ] I bought his lens and he had both my money and lens for a time, I was not worried as he was a regular and things worked out well, except I still have that Nikon lens....😀 ] I have done other trades here where money and equipement passed in the mail every time I have dealt with people that have been around for a while.

not all have been in the USA but they always worked out. I know others have had issues, however if they have been here AND posting regularly I have been comfortable with trading or buying
