I just stuff it in jacket pockets, since I never seem to go anyplace when it's actually warm.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I actually enjoy scanning! Gives me time to read, relax, etc while the machine is wurring. Though I can totally see why most people despise it

Back in 1999, I spent two weeks in Italy with one camera, one lens, and one type of film.

Well... the D5100 and the 35/1.8 arrived today. It's a little thing. That's good in my book. Plan to check it out over the weekend.

Plaubel Makina 670 and a light tripod is my favorite travelling gear.
I have done a few trips with other cameras, more than one camera, a Leica M8 with three lenses, but in the end I prefer just taking the Makina now for it's superb image quality and small size (considering it's an MF camera).
I also want to enjoy my travels, and pay more attention to what I actually want to photograph, than wondering what lens to use, what settings, reviewing the digital shots etc. A simple camera allows me to keep gear-related attention to the minimum.
When it comes to GAS however, I do have it often after a trip. But it's more about what film could have been a better choice, what clothes would work out better for hiking and things like that.

I'm heading off to South East Asia for a few weeks in a month or so. Going to leave all my DSLR gear at home in favour of my M8/M4-P for back up, 35/2 Biogon, CV 15 and 90 Elmar. 10 rolls Tri-X & 5 rolls Ektar in case my M8 fails & that'll do me.

Played with the D5100 over the weekend, with the 35/1.8. Kinda fun. Very easy to use. The primary control knob is in the right place, and the rest of the controls are kept to a minimum.
The thing is the same size as the M2, a little thicker, but lighter. I'm OK with all the "plastic". I drive in plastic and I fly in plastic.
Of course, now I need a new bag.
