Travel to latvia

Hello. Is there someone of the baltic region or someone who already travelled to latvia?
I want to spend a few days there at the end of august. I don't speek latvian and russian, only english and german. I think, getting along in Riga shouldn't be a problem. But what about the more rural areas? Any experience here?
Do you know of any photographic restrictions. I read about the typical restrictions with military facilities.

Oh. And I have no question about camera equipment 😉

I live in Estonia. Just north of Latvia, but I've never been there.
Young people will most likely understand and speak english.
When trying to talk to an older person who doesnt speak english, try german.
I think there is a latvian RFF member too, but I dont remember his username.
